Which languages does it make?
English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Mandarin Chinese and Hindi. Your video should be in English. The English version keeps your own voice and gets captions.
Does the new voice sound like me?
In local mode, each language uses a built-in AI voice. If you add your own ElevenLabs key and choose AI mode, ElevenLabs clones your voice into every language and keeps your tone and pacing. ElevenLabs bills your account per minute, and LocalDub shows the cost on each job.
What happens to the music in my video?
By default LocalDub removes only your voice and keeps the music and background sound under the new voice. You can also keep the original track very quiet under the dub, or turn it off.
Will the voice and captions be in sync?
LocalDub knows the exact time of every word you said. Each translated line is fitted to that moment, a little faster or slower if needed, and the captions come from the same timing.
Does anything leave my Mac?
In local mode, listening, voices and video rendering run on your Mac. Translation uses a local model if you have one installed through Ollama, and falls back to Google Translate for the text if not. AI mode sends your audio to ElevenLabs.
My video is already in Spanish. Can it just add captions?
Yes. Captions only mode keeps each video in its own language and voice, and burns in captions in that language.
