You choose how private chat works
The owner picks one of three rules for the whole workspace. With DMs off, the database itself refuses a private chat, and the attempt is written to the security alerts.

ZwaySpace is a web app you host yourself. Your team opens it in the browser, on a laptop or a phone.
Put it on your server
Run it on your own machine or your own cloud project, with its own Postgres database.
Create the owner account
The very first account becomes the owner and creates the workspace. A private setup key stops anyone else claiming it.
Pick the rule, send invites
Choose how direct messages work, make your channels, and send invite links to your team.

Can people still message one to one?
Only if you allow it. The owner picks one of three rules: no direct messages, admins only, or anyone. A direct message is a private channel with two people, so it follows the same rules and logs as every other channel.
What happens if someone tries to DM when it is off?
The button is switched off in the app, and the database refuses the request too. The attempt is written to Security alerts, which only admins can see.
Where does our data live?
In your own Postgres database, on a server you control. You can also turn on nightly backups to storage you own.
Who can join the workspace?
Only people you invite. Each person gets a role. Viewers can read but cannot post or upload, and suspended people lose access to channel data.
Does it replace our task tool?
For many small teams, yes. Each channel has a board with To do, In progress, Review and Done, plus assignees, priorities, due dates, subtasks, repeating tasks, timers and timesheets.
Can I use it today?
Not yet. ZwaySpace is in development and running as an internal pilot. During the pilot, files are limited to PDF, PNG, JPEG and TXT, up to 5 MB each. Join the waitlist and we will tell you when it opens.
